My company, Grassland Oregon, recently participated in a CIG funded demonstration project called "Pastures for Pollinators". In this demonstration we overseeded pollinator friendly plants into pastures. Recently the demonstration field day occurred on an organic dairy farm and it was a phenomenal success. Bees were everywhere! It really produced a lot of bee forage. It is an example of how agriculture can enhance nature and it is worthy, in my opinion, of expanding and continuing. I am going to move forward with this project nationally and would like to utilize it as a means to positively promote organic agriculture. Would anyone on this board have a recommendation for a good bee group to work with in further developing this idea? project Apis m. or Xerces or In this demonstration everyone wins. The pollinators get more forage in a chemical free environment. The organic dairy farmer gets more forage for his cows. The cows get a forage of higher quality. The soils are improved through the inclusion of tap-rooted legumes. In the future I could see organic dairies and organic beekeepers becoming a huge partnership. Thoughts?
