What or how will we use technology to promote, supplement, or even teach this level of beekeeping in Oregon?

The Oregon Master Beekeeper program will indeed focus on hands-on learning, however we do plan to create a web-based component sometime in the future. Perhaps we could put the exam online, or have training videos available....maybe even a blog!
We still have a lot of work to get the program off the ground, so it may take some time to get this computerized portion up. Meanwhile, keep the ideas coming!

There is no right way,or wrong way to keep bees, TIming is more important than any test!! Heres a question for ya..What does a bee keeper (amature) almost always do? (or should I say almost never do) Most beekeepers are un able to build their own box'es,and or frame material, and are unable to wax there frames, ,and most beekeepers cant even extract there own honey. 8 out of 10 beekeepers that i know of always hire somone else to do their bee crop for them.....go figure'' Attachments:

Extracting honey is like many things in life. One time is enough to get the basics and after that it is just a chore.
The equipment is expensive and at the best you end up with a sticky area where the extraction takes place.
A club atmosphere where several get together and help each other makes for a better reason to extract more than one time.
As to the idea that there is no wrong way to keep bees. In any endeavor there are basic principles involved. Break these principles at great risk of failure and expense.
The Master Beekeeping Program teaches these principles and gives ideas for each individual to add their own extras.
The program hopes to help beekeepers enjoy a great hobby.
