I am living in the Portland area for the summer and am very interested in learning about beekeeping. I won't be here long enough to start a hive of my own so I am wondering if there is anyone who would be willing to let me follow them around while they tend their bees and teach me a little about beekeeping? Basically I want to learn more but can't invest in my own bees because I will only be here for a few months. I am in this for information and experience about beekeeping.
Thanks!

Hey christine, there are many beekeepers around who you can talk to. I am moving South in a few days, otherwise you could visit with my bees.
You should get in touch with Zenger farm (zengerfarm.org) they have a bee cooperative of sorts that you might be able to get in on. Also, be in touch with the Portland and Tualatin bee clubs, they meet monthly. Info about those meetings is on the website here.
Cheers, Stu

Shoot me a private message and I'll get you connected to Zenger Farm where I co-lead the bee group.
