Howdy All- My name is Kayla and I was wondering if anyone perusing this message board knows of a need for beekeeping employment or apprenticeships. I have helped with hives in southern oregon and in vermont and am excited and passionate enough to want to go on and learn more about beekeeping as a full time occupation. I have been an organic vegetable farmer the last 4 or 5 years and have noticed that that sector-small scale organic farming- has plenty of young support making it grow. Beekeeping, on the other hand, with even greater numbers of skilled persons leaving the field, is in need of new people. I would like to learn from whoever has the need for help in their operation. I have my own suit and equipment... So if anyone know of anyone in northern oregon or southern washington, please let me know. Many thanks kayla

Hi Kayla. I am in the same boat. I have been beekeeping as a sideliner for a long time, and am now thinking I would like to try it as full time employment. I have been looking around and have not seen anything in Oregon in terms of beekeeping operations looking for employees. I am going to simply try it out myself by adding ten or twenty hives a year for a few years and see how that goes. Good luck.

Hello, I too am in the search for an mentor in the beekeeping world. I have read all the texts, and have 5 hives and an observation hive. This is my second year. I have had varying levels of success in this whole endeavor. I am looking for someone to train with and work for. I am an ER nurse so I have a flexible schedule. I learn very fast normally... it just seems that this learning curve moves faster than I do. If anyone is in need of help let me know. Thank you. leviticuscole@mac.com
