Has anyone out there ever used propolis traps? When should I put them in? Do I put them on the top box, place the inner cover and lid over them? When do they get removed?

You want propolis? Go buy some of those plastic flexible queen excluders and put them to use. The bees will propolize both sides. Some people then place the excluder in the freezer and after it is chilled you can bend the sheet and the propolis will fly off. Also always carry two buckets around with you when you are inspecting your,(my) hives. One for wax and a small one for propolis. NOW GET BACK TO WORK!!!

I've got the traps, but you still haven't told me where they go and when. Do you still use an inner cover?

You must mean pollen traps, not propolis?

Dear Lord, give me the bottle of pills and let me out of this mess!!!! So Alex, you really want me to tell you where to put your propolis trap? I didn't think so. But, on the upside you are at the peak of the year for propolis production. In the heat, and during the robbing season, they really go to town gluing everything together. I wish I could instill their work ethic on some people I know, if you get the drift. So, why don't you crack the books and report back to all of these fine folk with what you've learned. Normy

I'll increase my work ethics when you increase your pay ethics. You didn't get rich by paying a fair wage, Norm Counthismoney. I was talking with someone who went to Dee Day and they said tha Bill Ruhl said that the Fall is when the bees propolize because they are sealing things up for the winter. So my remaining question is do you put the propolis trap on the top of the frames and put the hive cover over it or the inner cover over it and then the cover? Simple question Mr. Money, Mr. Voice of Experience, can you share some wisdom without all the snot. But, on the upside you are at the peak of the year for propolis production. In the heat, and during the robbing season, they really go to town gluing everything together. I wish I could instill their work ethic on some people I know, if you get the drift. Normy

Yeah, I'll share some wisdom, smallfry. I also didn't get rich by my crew setting around a 9:52 posting on the message board either!! You just docked yourself 1 hours pay. Break is from 10:00 to 10:15. Vanderfool will probably give you a written warning next time. Now, let the rest of us know what you find out (off the clock) about your question. Huggs & Kisses

So, Norm, what it comes down to is that you are clueless on all counts. Also your forgetory (as opposed to a memory) is working overtime. I have this week off to tidy up for the big party this weekend. Ask Clara, she'll remember. When I do resume my route next week I'll make sure I deliver some memory pills to your pharmacy in Tillamook for you.

Seems you peed in the well, Norm. Everyone is frightened to give me an answer because you have your dukes up and will give them a hard time for helping me. I'll probably have to ask my question at gardenweb.com where no one knows about you and your temper.

What a match made in heaven! And as far as a written warning goes; have you ever heard of consistancy? You can't be taking Alex to the drag races and giving him flying lessons on company time and then turn around and put something on him for doing something (at least industry related) far lesser. Nope! From what I've seen so far, the only write-up Alex is elegable for is Employee of the Month. Fight your own battles, old timer.

Hi Robert! I have never used a propolis trap. And with prices between $7 and $10 per pound, it may be time to learn about them. I guess I'm still stuck in the mindset that propolis in the hive is a nuisance to be avoided. I have been saving propolis this year when I stumble on to it for resale. Let us know what you find out. Harry
