ATTN !! ATTN !!!! Letter From USDA This is to provide you with advance info about a planned Chemical application that may affect BEES. Rangeland in a portion of Klamath Marsh National Wildlife Refuge may be treated this summer to suppress a serious grasshopper population explosion. A treatment program may be conducted in this area based on the U.S. dept of Agriculture's summer 2003 and spring 2004 survey identifying economically damaging populations of grasshoppers. Treatment will only be conducted if the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service provide a written request for control assistance and funding is available. If a control program takes place APHIS will apply CARBARYL BAIT. Although bait is considered safer then most compounds towards BEES, CARBARLY is highly toxic to Bees. A control program could begain as early as July 1,2004 IF YOU HAVE BEES WITHIN OR NEAR THIS AREA IT WILL BE YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO MOVE THEM. You can find out more info, exact dates of treatment, and obtain an Environmental Assessment of our control program, by contacting our office at (503)326-2814,or on the Oregon Department of Agricalture web site, oda.state.or.us/plant/ppd/Ent/gh/index.html
