Hi, I would like to attend your april meeting. I have not raised bees before and am studying and interested in getting started. i plan or ordering gear so I can go to bee day in Colton on the 26th. Do you think i should start with one hive or more? I live on 16 acres so space is not a problem.

I do believe most suggest start with two. That way if one has issues you can sometimes help the other out.

I started with two swarms last year and raised a queen in a Nuk. It was a great idea as the queen was needed last October in my first hive. It has been a great experience.

Can I get easy directions to the April meeting? I couldn't find it last month.....yahoo maps didn't seem to give me the right directions - at least I couldn't find the address at the end of the trail. :-) Of course, I am also directionally challenged......

The Capital Center, OSU Extension, 18640 SW Walker Road, #1400, the southwest corner of Walker and 185th. Meeting starts at 7:30PM.
Directions: Take US26 to the 185th Ave exit and head south. About a block after (or south of) the corner of 185th and Walker Road, turn right into the Capital Centre and proceed straight ahead. Enter the building on the south side (the entry has a big "D1" above it), proceed down the hallway. The meeting room is near the center of the building, generally in Room 1411. There will be paper signs on the walls with the room number of the meeting. If you can't find the meeting, call me on my cell, (503) 701-4180, and I will talk you to the building.

Doggone it! I just realized that I will be back East and will not be able to make this month's meeting. Can someone else help BeeSweet via cell phone if she needs assistance in finding the meeting place?

Well, BeeSweet, I don't see replies from any volunteers. But, I will be in Virginia at a college reunion Friday around the time you will be looking for the meeting. Please feel free to call...I will do my best to guide you to the meeting. My thinking may be clouded a bit, though.

Feel free to give me (Paul Andersen) call on my cell 503-332-5410.
I will probably show up at 7:00 for the social hour.
