I just realized our April meeting is currently scheduled for Friday April 25th and Bee day is April 26th.
I there any reason we need to consider having the meeting a week earlier??

Nope, you move the date you loose the people. I think I have John Jacobs from "Old Sol" coming. That may work out better for him, if he would like to go (bee day) since he will already be up here.

Yeah, be ready for bad weather. I was there last year and it was soooo cold and rainy. I had numb bees on my veil when I got in my car. And a short while later I was driving down the highway with about 6 or 7 bees flying around me. The year before was great though. And I can recommend them. I always learn a lot. Liz

That is very nice of John coming all the way up. I think our strongest leverage point for overcoming our difficulties with Nosema ceranae and Varroa is in people like John who strive to raise superior bees.
Did anyone else read Randy Oliver's last article about Nosema? I got a full deep box and frames in my liquefying tank to kill Nosema spores based on that article. Apparantly combs can be sterilized (of N. apis at least) by heating to 120 degrees F for 24 hours.
I thought he's article was very interesting...
I think some of us need to buy some queens from John -- special delivery!

I was lucky enough to be a successful bidder at a previous ORSBA conference and will take delivery of 5 of John's queens this Spring. I was supposed to take delivery last year, mid-summer, but John was kind enough to let me delay until this Spring.
