Hi,
I want to try bees again next year. In preperation for that I'll need to acquire some hives. In the past I have gotten them from Ruhl Bee Supply. What is the opinion of the group about Ruhl? Are they decent quality at a decent price?
Actually hives look dirt simple to make from scratch. Does anyone have any plans? Is scratch building really any cheaper then mass production kits?
Thanks, Ray

I sure hope this does not sound like a wizecrack just because it is. You cannot "try bees". You must eather commit to advancing, full force into bees or forget it. Look on the bright side. There are a lot of good folk in oregon that will help you along. As far as wood goes, check with the Super Nazi. Be careful with critisizm however or its No Supers For You! ;D Normy ;D

Hi,
I've gone through three packages of bees without much luck.
First package of bees lasted until late Summer. Then died. I salvaged 3 quarts of honey.
Second package of bees lasted a few months. Then died. No honey.
Third package of bees died after a few months. Funny though there wasn't many bodies. Looks more like they swarmed or something.
After three "tries", I burnt the hive. After all something the meds was not handling was killing my bees. After a two year hiatus I am ready to "try" again.
Regards, Ray
