If all goes well, we'll have a room for January 27 (7:30) at the OSU ext. Service Office on Walker and 185th Avenue, Aloha, to hear Sheryl Johnson from Ruhl's discuss beekeeping costs with emphasis towards the beginner.

Drew
Sorry I didn't see your question until today. We were in California the week before New Years. It quit raining at noon Wednesday as we arrived. Good thing. The water was about a foot and a half deep over the road on both sides of the lane down to our bees. We moved part of them that night then worked on the others Thursday before going through the ones we moved in the afternoon. It was a great sunny experience unknown in Portland the last few weeks. Wednesday night the creek beside the bees was about three inches from going over the bank and therefore over our bees. But, by Thursday noon it was down six feet. Up quick; down quick I guess. We moved the rest Thursday evening and Friday morning. The packages were put in on December 16 and 17 and had two to three frames of brood in the two weeks. Most had capped brood the size of your fist to the size of your hand on a least two frames. We put on pollen patties and syrup again and left Friday evening. Did I say it rained very hard all day Friday. We got a phone call Saturday morning saying that the place our bee were in originally was under two feet of water. Guess sometimes you just get lucky.
