I'm a newbie - I have been watching my grandfather work with bees for as long as I can remember, and he is now giving me the opportunity to try my hand at the art of Beekeeping. My first Willamette Valley meeting is this month but, I wanted to through my first newbie question out there:
My grandpa has been using the same super frames for quite some time and it shows, though they are still in solid condition. We have had all of the hives fail 3 years in a row now, and i'm wondering if maybe burning the worst of them and replacing with new frames and supers isn't totally crazy...? Just in case there is something spore related or viral hiding in the "woodwork". Any opinions and advice is welcome - and thank you in advance!!
