We just discovered a hive of about 50-100 in the digits above our garage (~8 feet to reach). I'd rather they be rescued than killed, if anyone is interested. We're in SE Salem.

Can you post a picture of the bee's so we can make sure they are honey bee's and not yellow jackets. Had 3 this week that were yellow jackets. It is that time of year.

Sure thing, not 100% sure myself and I don't want anybody to waste their time. Here's some photos and a 30 second clip of them: picasaweb.google.com/103434291307049516409/BeesThe flower pictures should be close enough to distinguish if you zoom in.

Well the pic's are nice but, definitely not clear enough for a zoom. I can tell they are bee's but, not what type. Still possible to be yellow jackets but, probably honey. Maybe you could get a zoomed in picture.?

Yup Honey Bee's you are correct. Now looking at your soffets it does not look to hard to take apart to get them out.
So any of you junior beekeepers in the area can you go over and take them from him.? It should be done in the next few weeks for them to have a chance at survival. They should be placed on drawn comb for maximum survivability. They wont be able to draw comb this late in the year.
Looks like an easy cutout. wish I lived closer.

It should be fairly easy, remove the one nail, cut the caulk and pop the soffit out. It was at the end of our installation.
I should mention that we're going on vacation starting Tuesday for a couple weeks. Short notice, sorry. If anyone is interested, give us a call and we can arrange something.

Unfortunately, with the onset of fall the bees are starting to find their way inside and one has recently stung my wife for standing too near the nest. I thought I'd try one more time to see if anybody wants them before we call pest control. Thanks!
