I got a swarm call from a lady just off I-205 and Stafford Rd. It is right between Tualatin, Lake Oswego, and Wilsonville.
The swarm is hanging on a tennis-court standard-metal fence about 10 feet up. I tried knocking the bees into a box, but they wouldn't go. I tried baiting them with drawn comb and sweet lemongrass oil, with no luck. I tried using a leaf-blower to blow them into the box, but they all just flew around and went back to the fence. I even tried coaxing them into the nuc-box with a broom, and you can imagine about how well that went over. Because the swarm is between the fence post and the lattice of the fence, I just couldn't find a way to get them into a box.
I left an empty nuc hive out right next to the swarm for three days now with no luck. I'm not sure how much longer this swarm will be there, but I can't seem to work it out.
I would imagine that someone with a bee vac could just suck them right up in about 1 minute. I don't have a vac, and don't have the time to build one this week.
This swarm is going to the first person to PM me a request for the contact info of the property owner.
I will post here once someone calls dibs. Until then, this is fair game.
(the swarm is on the smaller side. About 9 inches tall, by about 4 inches across, give or take a fencepost. The property owner has several ladders readily available)
