The Oregon Master Beekeeper program was officially introduced at the 2011 OSBA Fall Conference in Seaside. Oregon is the 9th state to offer such a program. Please see our new website for more information: www.oregonmasterbeekeeper.orgWe are currently accepting applications for the Apprentice Beekeeper level. The Apprentice program is unique in a number of ways. It combines classroom instruction with practical, hands-on hive management experience. Students work with a mentor and have access to the program website that will contain Information and resources. Please visit the website for more details and an application. As always, contact me if you have any questions: carolyn.breece@oregonstate.edu or (541) 737-5440. Thank you! Carolyn Breece

Why should someone pay to do this? And wouldn you just issue an experienced beekeeper a certificate? If not why.

Why wouldn't someone pay for this opportunity?
The program has costs to run. It is designed for people who do not have the experience or have not been able to work with someone who does have experience. If you want to mentor then it will just be a matter of walking through the paces to become a mentor or certified as the program is laid out.
