Is there going to be a forum for just instructors and mentors of the program?
Thanks, Seth

Just a thought...
Public money involved and the product either is or should be in the public domain.
If OSU is involved were not running a private club...

Hi Chuck
It's not a private club. The instructor forum is closed because we need to discuss things like answers to the exam.

So, how much ORSBA money is going toward this program?

Why should that matter, Kevin?

Yikes... I matters because the amount of association money spent is a reasonable question.

It would be better for a lot of us if the conversations were kept on a professional level.
Kevin asked a reasonable question about the expenditures from OSBA towards the Master Bee Keepers program.
I read the response as a challenge with the implicit "it's none of your business" and it doesn't matter anyway because we are doing it regardless.
While Kevin may be young and it would be prudent to not challenge the powers at be, I am neither young nor threatened by association authority.
I would simply ask again about the expenditures from the OSBA for the Master Bee Keepers Program? It would be my expectation that the books are open and a reasonable approximation of the amount expended would be readily available. Nothin' to hide, don't hide it....

This is copied from the 4/14 OSBA meeting minutes published in the May issue of the Bee Line:
"OSBA has generously offered to support Master Beekeeper with start-up funds. Expenses include books for instructors, lunches and travel assistance to Instructor Conference attendees. Master Beekeeper will be charging a fee for participants, which will allow the program to be self-supporting. Jan Lohman and Ramesh Sagili are working together on a grant to further support these efforts. The grant proposal has made the first cut! OSBA would like to set a $2000 limit for the start-up assistance to Master Beekeeper. "
The Oregon Master Beekeeper program is grateful for the OSBA start-up assistance. Once we get the program started (in November), we expect the program to be self-supporting, funded by the participant fee and hopefully by the grant mentioned above (cross your fingers!).
Now that we got that out of the way, let's talk about field mentors! This summer we are reaching out to beekeepers that mentor others. The program needs to build a cadre of mentors willing to help participants with hands-on hive management experience. If you have 3 years of beekeeping experience and if you are interested in mentoring apprentices in the Master Beekeeper program, please contact me at breecec@hort.oregonstate.edu
Stay tuned for more information on the Master Beekeeper program!

Is this open only to ORSBA members? Pay your dues and you're in, errorbizz. "Its only money" Seems black and white enough that even a Zebra could understand. ;D Normy ;D

How about a real answer to Zeebera's question with a clarification for the MasterBeeKeeper Program and/or the mentor program?
I tend to think the whole subject may be in flux at this point.
