;D Hello again to this dark and dry message board... No one is ever in the Portland Chat room when I peek in...
Is anyone going to Salem during August 30th to Sept 2nd for the "Western Apicultural Society 2010 Annual Conference? Whew that's a mouth full...
Probably not going to attend each day and each speaker's event... More like looking for something to do with "BEES" on the mind...
Wanted to get a clear idea of what it's all about.... Anything interesting and thoughtful for a couple simpleton drop ins? Dad and I will go if there is something good to learn, but sitting for hours listening to one scientist after another may not be the "thing" for us... Is the talk "science heavy" (will we need an MBA in Agricultural Affairs to understand?) or is it a bunch of bee loving folks who wish for a world full of happy bees?
What can Dad and I expect after the 3/4 hour drive?
Maybe one day's specific topic/speaker would be better than the next?

Should be worth your time any of the days. Wednesday and Thursday have more than Tuesday.
Talking to other beekeepers in the hallways is always worth the price of admission. Sorting out the truth is the hard part.
WAS is an organization of mostly hobby beekeepers. You can get a list of topics from this web site. The speakers know their stuff and most will give it in terms that all can understand.
Enjoy

;D FANTASTIC MEETING in Salem, thanks to the speakers, (Dad and I went Wednesday and arrived after 1pm... darn it!) all of them were very entertaining and Q&A's appreicaited!!! We spent money with your sponsors, and in turn ate our fair share of brownies! You have encouraged us to step on it and harvest honey this weekend! After learning that it was almost too late! We have just today received our new jar labels and will be able to post photos soon! Dad (DearJohn) is the newest member of ORSBA!
