Greetings, I went ahead and made splits 2 weeks ago and checked back today. I made 2-3 frame splits and added a caged queen two days later. A week after that I added a second story because alfalfa had started to bloom and they were really bringing it in. Most have filled the lower box and have already filled 2-3 frames with nectar/honey in the upper box. Of the 15 splits all accepted the caged queens. One how ever also has a virgin running around in it. I'll wait to see. So far so good. Maybe June 16 is not to late, time shall tell. A side note: I didn't receive a reply to my last post (old board)I hope that Norm didn't take offense, it was not my intent. I apologize if you did. Bettis

Considering all the swarms that are still issuing out there it obviously isn't too late. I wouldn't expect much surplus honey. They may just make enough to get them through the winter.
And don't worry about Norm, he'll let you know when you make him mad. Besides he's too fixated on Rbees and Harry to get mad at anyone else. I've had run ins with him and we seem to be getting along just fine now that I work his bees with him now and then. I'm even considering giving him back all his swarms I captured.

Hey Bettis ! I wasn't snubbing you. I've been out of state a lot lately. Besides, you see the likes of which I have to endure around here; I have thick skin. I hope to be around more to keep an eye on things. Got back from Minnesota and the new Freightliners had their trailers detached and there are rubber marks up and down the road on both sides out in front of the plant. And NOBODY knows anything about it. Is this beekeeping? Norm
