Todd have you ever had a disaster combining swarms? Will the Deep hive from a large swarm make a honey crop this year? No disasters yet. I check the swarms after a period of time and make sure they are queen right. If not, I add them (or vice versa) to a queenright swarm/hive. I am trying not to merge to swarms together with both very productive queens. So, like Liz, back to buying more deep boxes... Not enough to warrant driving down south though to Yordie, probably go to Ruhl's and pay that extra 3 per box.
Will a swarm make a honey crop. You bet. It is May. It depends on the size of the swarm of course, and how much drawn comb you give them.
I have a few swarms that Drew out 10 frame deeps in very short order. That is what is great about swarms -- making beautiful drawn comb.

Yeh Todd, I agree about the nice comb. I hived a nice swarm that filled one deep completly about 3 weeks ago. They now have lots of capped brood and have almost drawn out the entire box. I have high hopes for that hive.
