"Oxalic" you can get from hardware store, "Formic" you can buy the pre-soaked pads from RUHL bee supply If you are looking for formic try chemical supply stores. IT costs unless you are buying drums of it.

The best deal I've been able to find in our area is a liter of 88% from American Scientific in Portland for $78.00. I found others in Portland who wanted even more and some who wanted a lot more!! I guess not many people use formic acid as most chemical suppliers didn't have it and several said they never heard of it. No the best deal seems to be here: store.hvchemical.com/search.htm?searchterm=formicYou can see a pint is $7.00 and the shipping is about $20.00. I typed in 8 pints and the shipping was still around $20.00 and when I put down 20 pints it was $23.00!! I emailed them asking about the $25 hazardous substance surcharge and they told me as long as it didn't exceed 66lbs and went by ground there would not be one. The idea of course is to have a silver bullet for varroa as described here: www.wvu.edu/~agexten/varroa/FormicAcidppt.pdfI figure 1 pint would be enough to treat 9 hives so that's less than $1.00 each not counting shipping. Buy 20 pints and it's about $1.00 per hive including shipping; about 1/3 the price of Mite Away pads and probably a lot more effective although I am speaking as someone who has absolutely no experience whatsoever with formic acid treatments. Not only that but the Mite Away instructions talk about leaving the pads on for 14 days? I've never used these but one day with a fumigator board seems like it mite bee more desirable for all concerned. (except for the mites) I of course only have 2 hives so..... Anyone interested in giving it a try this summer?
