If you take a look at the blackberries most ,on valley floor area, are about 1 week from blooming!!! This would have to be one of the earliest blooms I have seen. WHICH also means there will be, not much for bees to work after it is done. Plan accordingly for a long dry summer.

I've kept bees since 1985 (at elevation 1200 feet) and I have never put honey supers on before May 15. Many years I don't have any honey by the middle of June. Right now I have full (but not capped) supers. What!?!?
I have some bees near Elmira, OR and I found a couple of open blossoms there last weekend.

I did five frame walk away splits in April with only a frame of that being syrup. Checked them for queen last week and found the ten frame deeps honeybound! Crazy year but in a good way so far. Having to space manage new splits in first half of May without feeding post split.

This has been a good, make that GREAT year for start ups etc... MY fear is, those in rural areas, are in for a LONG dry summer. Which will be lots of feeding to get them through winter or leaving the honey on till late. Choice is yours.
