Hi! We are getting ready to put our home on the market and discovered that some type of bumblebee has taken up residence inside the exterior wall of our garage. There is a small hole that we had run some wiring through, and the bees have apparently used that as an entrance to make their home. The bees are small, fuzzy bumblebees with an orange/red band across their tail end behind the wings. They don't appear to be very aggressive. We must have them removed so that we can properly finish the wiring project. We do not have a lot of money to spend on this and are hoping that someone would be willing to move them for a reasonable cost. The interior of the garage wall is sheetrock and we have no problem with someone cutting into this and removing the nest from inside. We will repair the wall ourselves; we just want the bees removed and saved. Otherwise, we will have to have them killed. This would make us very sad! Please contact me at 503-238-3974, if you know anyone who can help. We are located in SW Portland near the Sylvania Campus of Portland Community College. Thank you so much!
Update at 7pm on April 23: We found a company called Wild Bee Removal. They are going to come out, remove and relocate the nest for about the same cost that we were quoted by a different company to kill the bees. So the bees will get to live, and we will have a clear conscience. Thank you to all who might have viewed this.
