WESTERN APICULTURAL SOCIETY (WAS) CALL FOR WEB DEVELOPMENT BIDS
WAS is embarking on a new stand-alone website this year, in place of the one attached to UC-Davis that Dr. Eric Mussen has so kindly developed and run until this point. With Eric's retirement in 2014, it is a good time for WAS to relieve him of the workload and to step out as an entity in its own right.
To that end, President Beth Conrey is calling for bids to develop the new site, and to maintain it on an annual contract. The following work is to be done:
• At present, one domain has been reserved for our use (westernapiculturalsociety.com). The .net and .org domains also need to be reserved for a minimum 5 years, if for no other reason than to prevent people trying to use them and not reaching us.
• Develop the website with attention to ease of use (especially for those who may not be particularly computer-literate). Specify system to be used; emphasis on user-friendliness and the possibility that down the line, a less sophisticated web manager may be maintaining the site. • Conference registration form, membership form and possibly some others that may be added in future need to be submittable online and with secure access to make payments.
• Extend the tags to accurately present the varied information available on the site, especially as regards the annual conference.
• Provide email accounts for the Executive and Communications Director/Editor (currently eight persons).
• Partial maintenance of existing social media platform.
Bids should be send to WAS President Beth Conrey no later than January 31st. 1617 White Water Ct. Berthoud CO 80513 or email coconrey4@msn.com
