Maybe some of you remember the song by Kenny Rogers that advised against counting your money while setting at the gambling table. Well, games almost over in AAmonds and our gross is $2,722,300.00. WHAT A DISSAPOINTMENT!! Oh well. There is always next year to break 3M. So how did you do? Normy

All things considered, well. My bees took a big hit in August/September, so I have now made it through the bottle neck and am looking at better times ahead. Had my bees not gone down, it would have been much worse.
Your operation is a mighty large operation!

I did a lot more equalization than last year, but they generally look really nice. One thing I did different than before was give them a second shot of 77 after working them. That combined with a reported excellent pollen and nectar flow; they should be ready for divides soon!

Harry What the heck is 77? Syrup is sold by % of solids. The sucrose that I buy in Oregon is around 64% solids. It flows very well. Mann Lake sells a product that they call Pro-Sweet-77. I'm not exactly sure of the formulation but it is THICK!!! At the end of my work in almonds I decided to give them a second shot just for insurance. I went to Dadant in Chico, and they sold me "77" so they say. Anyway, all reports from almonds say that they stored a ton of pollen and nectar this year!! Can't wait to get them back home!

Harry, Those hives will be plugged out since you gave them an extra shot.
We're scheduled to move out in a week and I can see weight being an issue.

I I think it was a good decision to feed them 77. I had a number of hives that starved.
