You mean brood laying "Yeller Italians" ;D Us coastal boyz go for the darker "solar heat gain" girls with all of our famous sunshine we are noted for

Here's a very happy guy, who just picked up five nucs. First frame already out and in his box Next frame going up! A couple frames of beauty all frames out and still a half a pound left over There were actually seven frames of bees in there Needless to say Mike was a very happy camper....

Richard, when you put the feeders on the top like that do you have problems with water getting in? Under the feeders do you use HC? I have #10 HC under some of mine and they don't seem to take it, but maybe those are just the good foragers? And thanks for the title of this thread. Now every time I go into my apiary I have Creedence in my head.

Richard, when you put the feeders on the top like that do you have problems with water getting in? Nope...the bees have waxed and propolized the holes pretty good over time and behaves like plumber's putty such that the jars fit snug. Nope...No hardware cloth is used

Brown is beautiful. Plus, they need the heat in winter more than they need the cooling in summer, over here on the wet side. If we get summer I'll give them a shade that day.

I think that's an optical illusion. They use a 19" top bar so I could get them started by putting them in the Langs. The one is much closer. The furthest one is at the same distance as the Langs.

Does anyone else use top bar hives? I'm wondering if they have trouble getting them started. I've tried twice now with drawn comb and a virgin queen and both times they absconded. I'd really like to get one going because my 7 year old wants something he can use without help lifting.
